Baking Soda
This is a tool that our grandmothers still used. Helps to remove not only smell but also stains. Add some warm water to the main ingredient and stir until the consistency of a thick gruel. Apply to the area where the dog has peed. Leave it on for a day for the soda to absorb the smell. The product usually dries completely and does not require rinsing. So just vacuum or sweep the treated area.
Lemon
You can use it in the form of freshly squeezed lemon juice or citric acid solution. You can buy citric acid at your regular supermarket in the baking goods department.
Dilute lemon juice or citric acid with water in a ratio of 1:1. Fill the spray bottle with the resulting product. Spray the area where the dog has peed and where the smell is coming from. Wait until it is completely dry. To get rid of the problem, 3-4 repetitions of the procedure are usually required.
Vinegar
If you have white vinegar in your kitchen, mix 1/3 cup of it with 2/3 cup of warm water. If you are going to use any other type of vinegar then the proportion of 1:1 will work.
Pour the solution into a spray bottle and spray the area causing the unpleasant odor. You can also moisten a cloth with the solution and wipe the area that needs anti-smell processing. When the surface is completely dry, additionally wash it with warm water and detergent.
Hydrogen Peroxide
This product can be found in any first aid kit. And it turns out that it can be used not only to disinfect wounds but also to get rid of dog pee smell!
However, this solution is suitable not for all surfaces. It can only be used on tiles or linoleum. It is not appropriate for carpets and wood as it can spoil these materials.
Mix hydrogen peroxide, any detergent (preferably dishwashing liquid), and baking soda in a ratio of 1:1:2. Apply the thoroughly mixed mixture to the surface from which it is necessary to remove the stain with the smell of urine. Then leave it for 30-60 minutes. Wash off the dried mixture with warm water using a rag or sponge.
Iodine
This is a very common remedy that is found in almost any first aid kit. And, in addition to its excellent antiseptic properties, it also successfully fights off unpleasant odors.
This product is suitable for tiles and lacquered wood floors. Fabric surfaces and linoleum cannot be processed with it, as stains will remain.
Add 15 drops of iodine to 1 liter of water, or 3-4 drops per glass. Dampen a rag with the solution and thoroughly wipe the area that needs to be treated.
Alcohol
Alcohol does an excellent job with animal odors. In addition, the smell of this product scares off the dog. So, it will help to prevent the problem of peeing in this place in the future.
For processing surfaces to get rid of pee smell, the following products that contain this component are appropriate: rubbing alcohol, an antiseptic with a high percentage of alcohol, or even a strong alcoholic drink.
Moisten a cloth with it and wipe the surface thoroughly, or pour it into a spray bottle and spray.
Laundry Soap
This solution is suitable for all types of surfaces including fabrics, carpets, etc. It is most effective if the smell is fresh, not yet ingrained. It will also help remove dog pee stains. Grate a little piece of laundry soap and mix it with a small amount of water. Apply gruel to the area causing the unpleasant odor. Wait 10-15 minutes for the surface to be saturated with the product. Then remove the soapy gruel with a damp cloth and a little water.
Potassium Permanganate
This solution can be found in pet stores. It is usually used by aquarium fish owners for disinfection of water in case of their diseases. You can also search for it in hardware or grocery stores, as it is often used to clean swimming pools or kill parasites in the garden.
Dilute 2-3 crystals of potassium permanganate in a glass of warm water. Pour the solution into a spray bottle and spray on the area that is giving off an unpleasant odor. Wait until it is completely dry and repeat 2-3 more times.
Note that this solution is not appropriate for light surfaces since it can color them.
Chlorine
This product can kill almost any odor. It also disinfects the surface by killing all types of bacteria. However, it has a huge disadvantage. This substance has a very pronounced, pungent, unpleasant, chemical odor that takes a long time to disappear. However, if you’ve tried everything you could, this can be a last resort.
Add a little chlorine to the water in a 1:10 ratio and stir. Apply the resulting solution to the place requiring the elimination of dog pee smell. After 20 minutes, the surface must be thoroughly washed with a large quantity of water. Also, you will need to air the room for a long time. It is better both for you and your dog not to be indoors until the smell has completely disappeared since it is far from good for health.
Professional Solutions

They contain specialized chemical substances that are able to break proteins that dog urine contains and that are the reason for its unpleasant odor.
